Fourth-generation family towing company in London since 1957
A family-owned company based in London, Ontario, Ross Towing and Transportation traces its roots to 1957, when it bought its first wrecker. David and Lynne Ross took over and consolidated two local towing companies in 1972, and the business has since grown through several locations, settling at its current 995 Pond Mills Road facility in 2005, a 2.67-acre site with seven bays and an electronically controlled security system. Today the company is run by a third and fourth generation of the Ross family, including Mike, Brenda, Melissa, Chris, and Tyler Ross, with Brenda having worked alongside her husband David for more than 45 years overseeing day-to-day operations. The company operates a fleet of more than 50 vehicles, including eight heavy wreckers. Services span light, medium, and heavy-duty towing and recovery, tilt and flatbed transport, winch-outs, tire changes, fuel delivery, boosts and unlocks, roll-over recovery with air cushions, and emergency oil and fuel spill clean-up, plus storage and dock facilities. The company holds long-standing relationships with the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of the Environment, and area police forces, who use its secured, monitored compound to store vehicles from serious accidents or crimes. Ross Towing is also featured on the television series Heavy Rescue 401, and it backs community causes such as Diabetes Canada, a local minor hockey league, the Touch-a-Truck event, and area motorsport groups including a barrel racing association. The company's current facility, occupied since 2005, includes loading docks and an infrared digital security system on top of its fenced compound. Its main line runs 24/7, serving London and Southwestern Ontario out to Windsor, Sarnia, and Toronto.
